Catholic United earned the three points in a game which Sungate were on par with twenty minutes remaining. In an uneventful first half where the best chance for the hosts was a close range effort by Tom Elliott, sliding in moments too late, sending his effort wide of the post. Both sides cancelled each other out in what was a war of attrition in the middle of the park.
The second half began very much with the first half in mind, and things didn't change until the first subs entered the pitch on the hour and a minor change of tact. As Dan Rogers and new signing, John Fadiya, entered the fray, so did a little more creativity to the play. Just ten minutes later, good interplay between Dan Williams and Connor Brooks gave Brooks time to play through Rogers, for the midfielder to place the ball into the corner of the net.
United doubled their lead ten minutes later, with the goal of the game. From a throw in near the corner flag, the ball was played across the box and from just outside the area, Aaron Clark ran onto the ball and curled it into the bottom left.
The third and final goal was scored at the death, Jack Leech playing the ball through to Louie Hay and his ball into Sam Millen was controlled well, and his powerful shot found its way past keeper and defender.
