United, looking to get back to winning ways following a 2-1 defeat at Bishops Stortford Swifts, found a resolute Old Chelmsfordians, keen to overturn the apple cart and secure points which would help them move away from the lower echelons of the table.
Despite the hosts appearing to be in control, early chances fell to the visitors but Godwin-Green, standing in for the unavailable Woody Wells, was up to the challenge.
It was just after the 20 minute mark when Old Chelmsfordians opened the scoring. James Warder mis-controlled the ball in midfield and a quick break down the right, saw the ball played across the face of goal and tapped into an empty net.
The lead lasted around 12 minutes, before the home side found parity. A corner found the head of Mike Sammut who aimed it back across to the opposite post and a number of close range efforts were being blocked by the visitors putting their bodies on the line, but nothing could be done as it fell to Warder who powered the ball into the net.
That parity lasted just two minutes and with the goal of the game. A simple corner and header left Wells with no chance leaving United players trying to investigate what happened.
After the goal it was United who appeared to have the wind in their sails and were finding space in the middle and final third but were struggling to convert the chances being made and Joe Burton, Mike Sammut and new signing, 16-year old Descter Humphries all pulling the trigger but finding the body of a visiting player.
At the final whistle, the visitors were the happier and were good money for their victory. As much as Catholic pressed, there was a lack of good chances created and perhaps a lack of confidence creeping into the side, where availability of players has been a key issue in recent weeks.
